Developers now have access to the second beta versions of iOS 16.3 and iPadOS 16.3 from Apple

Apple has just made available to developers the second beta versions of the upcoming iOS 16.3 and iPadOS 16.3 upgrades for the sake of testing. These upgrades are planned to take place in the future. Exactly one month before the publication of the second beta versions of these upgrades, the initial beta versions of those changes were made available to developers for testing purposes. Registered developers will be able to access the beta version of the operating system over-the-air as soon as the iOS 16.3 and iPadOS 16.3 profiles have been downloaded and installed from the Apple Developer Center.

In iOS 16.3 and iPadOS 16.3, respectively, support has been included for physical Security Keys. These keys give an extra layer of protection to an Apple ID by authenticating the user’s identity. When logging into a new device or accessing an Apple ID in any other way, you can utilise any physical security key that has been certified by FIDO as a form of authentication and have it associated with your Apple ID. This can be accomplished by associating the key with the corresponding Apple ID.

Apple claims that the physical key provides robust protection against phishing and unauthorised account access, and it has replaced the digital verification codes that were previously sent to an Apple device when a user logged in with an Apple ID. Previously, the digital verification codes were sent to an Apple device when a user logged in with an Apple ID. Note that in order to use this function, you will need two physical security keys. This is a requirement in order to access it. This is necessary so that there is always a spare key available in case one of the keys is ever lost or stolen.

Because Apple is unable to circumvent this safety feature, if you misplace your security key, you will no longer have access to your Apple ID. In addition to the addition of Security Keys, the beta version also provides further instructions for using handoff to transfer music from an iPhone to a HomePod. This feature was introduced alongside the addition of Security Keys. At this moment, there has been no further discovery of any new characteristics that have been overlooked.
