How to Get Pearls in Animal Crossing
As a result of the recent release of the new summer update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players are now venturing out into the ocean in order to collect things and build mermaid furniture. Pearls are one of the materials that you’ll need in order to build the new furniture, but if you aren’t familiar with the features included in the summer update, it can be challenging to acquire them. However, there is no need for concern as we have compiled all of the information that you will require in order to locate pearls in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Go swimming
There are two primary methods for acquiring pearls, and both of them include swimming in the ocean. If you want pearls, you will need to do some swimming. You will need to spend 3,000 Bells on a swimsuit from Nook’s Cranny in order to accomplish this goal. You also have the option of purchasing one from the Nook Stop terminal, where you will find a wider variety of it despite the fact that it costs the same. The wet suit manufactured by Nook Inc. is also available at the port for an additional 800 Nook Miles. Put on the swimsuit and get ready to go for a swim as soon as you can, regardless of how you got it.
Search the ocean floor
After you have prepared yourself and are set to go, you can jump into the water and go for a swim in the ocean. Finding pearls on the bottom of the ocean is the first step in the process of tracking them down. You’ll come across clusters of bubbles that suggest an object is below; in these cases, pressing the Y button will cause you to dive, and you’ll be able to retrieve the item that’s being pointed out by a shadow beneath you. Pearls have an incredibly minimal chance of dropping, so keep that in mind. It’s possible that you’ll have to make multiple circuits of your island before you find one. It is not apparent what the exact drop rate of the pearl is, but we estimate that it is somewhere in the vicinity of 5 percent.
Continue to pick up stuff, and you’ll ultimately find what you’re looking for. It is in your best interest to clean out your inventory completely so that you have enough of space for the things that you will invariably acquire. Pearls can be collected at any point in time, and there is no limit to the number of pearls that can be found in a single day.
A Reward from Pascal
While you are searching for goods below the surface, you may probably stumble upon a small number of scallops. After collecting a haphazard amount of scallops, typically between one and four, you will eventually run into a sociable red sea otter named Pascal. Pascal will greet you with a polite greeting. He will come up to you and make the offer, which will be to trade do-it-yourself recipes for the scallops. This is something that needs to be done in order for you to make use of your pearls in the end.
But here’s the kicker: sometimes, rather than giving you a recipe, he’ll give you a pearl, even though the likelihood of this happening is quite low. Always be willing to engage in trade with him in order to boost your chances of obtaining a pearl or recipe. In the event that you do not consent to the deal, he will wait for you until you do. After you have completed a transaction with him, he will wave farewell for the day and then go without giving you anything in return.
It is more likely that you will acquire more pearls by discovering them on the water than by purchasing them from Pascal, but it won’t hurt to sell your scallops to him whenever you get the chance. You can only make a transaction with Pascal once each day, so if this is an issue for you, you may want to think about time travel in order to circumvent this limitation by adjusting the clock on your machine.
What do Pearls do?
In our do-it-yourself guide, we go into much more detail on what can be done with pearls, but in essence, they are materials that are required in order to craft the new furniture that was added in the summer update. If you want to complete your set of mermaid furniture, you’ll need a significant number of pearls, so you’d better start swimming as soon as possible. The standard need for each piece of mermaid furniture is no more than two pearls. Because you will need a total of 20 of them to finish the Mermaid furniture set, it is possible that it may take you some time to collect the necessary resources for each of them. Keep in mind that in addition to the pearls, the mermaid furniture requires other resources, most of which you will most likely have accumulated already.
There are a total of 14 different pieces of mermaid furniture that may be crafted, and in order to do so, you will need to consult Pascal for the appropriate DIY recipe. You can use them as a crafting ingredient, or you can sell them to Nook’s Cranny for a staggering 10,000 Bells each. You can do either of these things at Nook’s Cranny. Before you sell them to Timmy and Tommy, though, you should think about selling them to a buddy online because it is likely that you will get even more Bells for doing so.
