Swimming With Dolphins- A Therapy for Pregnant Women
It is quite perplexing for many people to know that dolphins have the ability to communicate with the baby in a woman.
How can dolphins do that?
We all know about ultrasound or ultrasonography. It is a scanning procedure in which sound waves of ultra-high frequency are used to get the image of a specific part of a human body, such as a pregnant woman get an ultrasound test to monitor the baby’s condition.
Dolphins have the echolocation or what we call the sonar ability (similar technique involved in ultrasound scan) to communicate with the unborn baby. These are high-pitched clicks or pulses of sounds beyond the range of human hearing ability. With the help of these ultra-sound waves, dolphins can echolocate the object near them.
What is Dolphin Therapy?
Neuroscientists and many experts believe that the ultrasonic emission of waves of dolphins stimulates the brain activity of the baby developing in the mother’s fetus.
Isn’t it amazing?
Researches have shown that babies whose mothers have gone through dolphin therapy, began talking and reading sooner comparatively.
Should pregnant women swim with dolphins?
Dolphins are considered to be intelligent species. We know they can echolocate i.e. they can emit sounds to sense anything near them even an unborn baby inside a mother’s womb.
So, the question arises is it safe for a pregnant woman to swim with a dolphin?
According to many scientists and doctors, swimming is one of the most beneficial and safest exercises during pregnancy
The benefits of swimming especially for pregnant women are unquestionable and swimming with dolphins seems to be fascinating and friendly. For a pregnant woman in the beginning stages like the first four to six months of pregnancy is safe provided if allowed by the resort management.
Effectiveness of Dolphin Therapy
It is not yet proven but many researchers and scientists believe that dolphin therapy for pregnancy can be helpful in the process of the baby’s healthy development, especially for the baby’s brain.
The sound waves emitted by the dolphin are a form of buzzing sound, and it is reported that when pregnant women are swimming with the dolphins, they come close to the women’s bellies and emit these sounds.
These buzzing sounds stimulate brain activity in the fetus.
Over the past few years, many women have been noticed showing their interest in dolphin therapy, questions like “can I swim with dolphins while pregnant” is one of the most popular ones.
At one resort, pregnant mothers lined up for the therapy alongside the pool, and it was observed that the dolphins swim up and touch the bellies of the women with their snouts making squeaking sounds.
A Spanish mother shared her experience that she felt her baby responded to these sounds.
Dolphin therapy is in its initial stages, much work and research need to be done to verify that dolphin therapy is effective during pregnancy.
Dolphin therapy can be related to music therapy. It is proven that music plays an important role in an unborn baby’s brain development.
This can be a piece of substantial evidence in favour of dolphin theory to prove that an unborn baby’s behaviour is changed when they come in contact with music or any form of sound or noises.
