PlayStation 4 owners now get three free months of Apple TV Plus

A new cross-promotion between Sony and Apple TV Plus is being announced, this time to provide console users with an extended free trial of the premium subscription service. Owners of the last-generation PlayStation 4 system who are not currently customers to Apple TV Plus may take advantage of a three-month free trial of the service. After that, it’s back to the standard monthly fee of $4.99. Similar to the promotion offered last summer, in which PlayStation 5 users received six months of Apple TV Plus, this promotion offers six months of Apple TV Plus to PlayStation 4 owners. Both promotions are valid until the 22nd of July in the year 2022.

When it comes to the PS5, extending this offer to PS4 owners broadens the pool of individuals who are eligible — especially with PS5 shipments still being beset by shortages and decreasing to a trickle after the Christmas season, this is a welcome development. The PS4 install base is far higher than that of the PS5, and Sony even plans to continue shipping PS4 systems through 2022. Despite the shortages, the PS5 is doing well in the market; nonetheless, it is not performing as well as the PS4 did at this stage in its lifetime.

It’s an excellent moment to sign up for the service and cover the introduction of a highly anticipated new series or movie, as well as the approaching Friday Night Baseball coverage, as this promotion allows PS4 users a three-month window to redeem their three-month window of almost four months (if the MLB season does indeed happen).

You will need both an Apple ID and a PlayStation Network account in order to take advantage of this promotion. Download and launch the Apple TV Plus application from the TV and Video area of the PlayStation 4. If you’re a new subscriber to Apple TV Plus, simply follow the on-screen prompts to log in to your existing Apple ID or establish a new one, and the three months of Apple TV Plus will be promptly added to your account.
