Western Digital Debuts New SanDisk PRO-BLADE Modular SSD Ecosystem
Western Digital today unveiled a new SanDisk Professional PRO-BLADE Modular SSD Ecosystem under the SanDisk brand, which is geared at creators who require fast portable storage devices that are capable of storing terabytes of data.
The PRO-BLADE SSD mag, the PRO-BLADE Portable SSD enclosure, and the PRO-BLADE Desktop SSD enclosure are all included in the system. The PRO-BLADE SSD mag is an NVMe SSD mag that is available in sizes ranging from 1TB to 4TB, with costs varying from $180 to $600. It is available in capacities ranging from 1TB to 4TB. The PRO-BLADE SSD mags have a drop protection of three metres and a crush resistance of 4,000 pounds, respectively.
When not in use, the Pro-BLADE Transport Portable USB-C SSD enclosure can be used to store one of the PRO-BLADE mags for use on the go. When utilizing the enclosure with a USB-C compliant camera, it provides read/write speeds of up to 2000MB/s over USB-C, and it’s simple to shift between mags. It costs $70 to purchase the SSD enclosure, and there are additional packages available that contain one of the PRO-BLADE mags for a total cost of up to $240.
Additionally, SanDisk is releasing the Thunderbolt 3 PRO-BLADE Station Desktop SSD enclosure, which can accommodate up to four PRO-BLADE SSD magazines. This enclosure is intended for desktop workstations. Because it includes a 40Gb/s Thunderbolt interface, the PRO-BLADE Station can transport data at speeds that are faster than those of the portable SSD enclosure. According to SanDisk, the PRO-BLADE Station and PRO-BLADE SSDs enable real-time 4K/8K/12K editing as well as ultra-fast copying and copying in real time.
The PRO-BLADE SSDs and portable SSD enclosure will be ready in June 2022, while the desktop SSD enclosure will be available in the fall of that year, according to the company.
SanDisk Extreme Pro memory cards now provide data transfer rates of up to 200MB/s, thanks to an upgrade over Western Digital’s previous offerings. In addition, Western Digital claims that these are the world’s fastest UHS-I SD and microSD memory cards. The revised cards will be available in June at a starting price of $20, with shipping starting in June.
