SK hynix is getting ready to release the SK hynix Beetle X31, a portable solid-state drive (SSD) that will be aimed at global markets. The launch will begin in the United States at the end of June. Since its launch in South Korea in May 2023, the X31 has been the first portable solid-state drive (SSD) produced by the business, and it has been met with widespread acclaim for its remarkable performance, practical portability, and streamlined appearance. Notable features of this solid-state drive (SSD) include excellent heat management capabilities and a maximum operating speed of 10 gigabits per second (Gbps).

The X31, which was introduced at a time when there was a growing need for portable SSDs, satisfies the need for storage devices that allow quick read and write operations on data while also ensuring that data is stored securely while the user is on the road. The X31 incorporates SK hynix’s cutting-edge technology, which have previously enabled optimal power consumption in the Gold P31 and established industry-leading specifications for consumer SSDs in the Platinum P41. The X31 is SK hynix’s first solid-state drive to support PCI Express 3.0 x4. In contrast to the common practice of omitting DRAM from solid-state drives (SSDs) in an effort to save costs, SK hynix has decided to maximize the performance of their X31 model by including DRAM as a buffer within the SSD itself.

As a direct consequence of this, the X31 is capable of achieving a maximum sequential read speed of 1,050 megabytes per second (MB/s) and a maximum sequential write speed of 1,000 MB/s. Because of these speeds, the transfer of a file that is 1 gigabyte can be completed in just one second. More specifically, the X31 can transfer 500 gigabytes of data at an ideal speed of more than 900 megabytes per second. This can be ascribed to the X31’s ability to maximize write speeds while also successfully regulating the heat generated from the rapid flow of data. The X31 is a very portable storage device that is fashioned like a beetle and is designed to fit snugly in the palm of your hand. Its name comes from the insect it resembles.

It weighs only 53 grams and has dimensions of 74 millimeters by 46 millimeters by 14.8 millimeters makes it extremely portable. The device’s body is made of ergonomically designed aluminium, and its smooth, rounded edges provide a better grip for easier use. The X31 supports various platforms and devices, including personal computers made by IBM and Apple, tablet personal computers, cellphones powered by Android, and game consoles. There are two capacities to choose from: 512 gigabytes or one terabyte. In addition, as standard accessories, the X31 includes a bumper case and the two USB cables (C-to-C and C-to-A) included.
