Modern Warfare 3 introduced a new aiming option for Call of Duty called Tactical Stance. Known by another name, “Tac-Stance,” it’s made to provide the finest hip-fire and aiming down sights for close-quarters combat. What is a Tactical Stance?

In earlier COD games, certain weapon and scope types have demonstrated a new technique called Tactical Stance, an alternative to ADSing. This can be thought of as the compromise between really ADSing and hip-firing your weapon. You’ll have a crosshair that is sharper than hipfire but not as precise as genuine ADS, with a turn speed that falls in between the two.

How to Enable Tactical Stance

Tactical Stance will engage by default while sliding or, if utilizing a controller, by aiming with the left trigger and pressing down on the D-Pad. Go to Settings (by pressing the “menu” or three line “burger” button on a controller) and choose Controller to modify the Tactical Stance controls.

You have five choices for Tactical Stance Activation, which is basically the controls:

Since I didn’t have to shift my thumb to the D-Pad, I found that double-tap ADS was the most intuitive way to transition to Tactical Stance, however I can see one of the two stick click ways being more and more useful in the future. It’s highly recommended to try with the different possibilities and see what works for you if you’re unsure about yourself.

How to Use Tactical Stance

As soon as you launch Modern Warfare 3, the Tactical Stance should be enabled by default. Once you’re in the game, all you have to do to utilize it is aim your weapon down the sights and use your pre-programmed control commands to assume Tac Stance. It’s also functional when you’re sliding, which is advantageous because it’s challenging to aim from that position.

Then, by moving your weapon slightly, you will be able to move with it more accurately, but the accuracy of your aim will be somewhat compromised in the process. Furthermore, only weapons that are shoulder-mounted or do not have magnifying scopes can be in the tac stance.

How to Disable Tactical Stance

If you decide it isn’t for you, go to the settings, find the ‘Gameplay’ section, scroll down to the Tactical Stance Activation option, and click ‘Off’. Tac Stance will become inoperative until you personally switch it back on.
