Mainboard performance

The 4 or 6 Performance Cores with Hyper-Threading and the 8 Efficiency Cores of the 13th Generation Intel Core CPUs provide outstanding performance. To put it another way, the i7-1370P, our most powerful option, boasts an astonishing 14 CPU cores and 20 threads. The whole solution is superior to the previous generation in terms of both performance and efficiency. You should expect a 20-30% increase in battery life across a variety of real-world use situations in both Windows and Linux thanks to the upgraded processor, larger capacity battery, and firmware enhancements we’ve done. As the release date of the AMD Ryzen 7040 Series processors draws near, we will provide additional information.

Enhanced for Use on Linux
We’re committed to providing excellent Linux support and are pleased to announce that Fedora 38 and Ubuntu 22.04 will run flawlessly out of the box on 13th Generation Intel Core and AMD Ryzen 7040 Series computers. We have in-depth guides for installing and configuring, and we will keep offering official support for these two distributions. We also provide comprehensive documentation for Manjaro XFCE 22.0 and Linux Mint 21.1. As we continue to test popular distros, you can see if they are compatible with Framework by visiting our Linux page or the Framework Community.

System upgrades

We listened to your suggestions and concerns about the Framework Laptop over the past two years while we developed the newest round of enhancements. In every way possible, we worked to enhance the human condition. This spring, we will release a firmware update that makes all previous models of Framework Laptops compatible with a new battery that has a greater capacity of 61Wh. While physically identical to the previous battery, the new Battery – 61Wh has 11% more capacity because to developments in lithium ion chemistry. We have also maintained a focus on durability, with normal availability of 80% after 1,000 use cycles.

We have also improved the screen, with the Display Kit – Matte offering the same resolution, color gamut, contrast, and brightness as the original display while allowing you to work more comfortably in a wider variety of lighting environments. The new Hinge Kit (2nd Gen) – 3.5 kg improves the stability of your screen with a force profile that makes it simple to open and close with one hand and maintain your preferred viewing position. The Framework Market now features waitlists for both of these products.

The volume of the Framework Laptop 13 (13th Gen Intel Core) has been amplified with the addition of our Speaker Kit – 80dB. We’re fine-tuning the original Speaker Kit’s audio circuitry to maximize volume and quality on the Framework Laptop 13 (AMD Ryzen 7040 Series).
