How to Clear Discord Cache Files on Desktop and Mobile

Discord cache files accumulate with every image, video, and amusing GIF you share and receive on the platform, taking up valuable disc space that may be better used elsewhere. You may simply erase Discord cache files on your Windows 10, Mac, iPhone, iPad, or Android device if you follow the methods outlined in this article.

These instructions will only work if you have already installed the Discord software on your Windows 10 PC, Mac, or mobile device before continuing. If you’re using Discord through its website, you’ll need to clear the cache and history files in your browser instead.

How to Clear Discord Cache Files on Windows

It is necessary to manually delete the Discord cache files on your Windows PC in order to erase the cache. Those files may be found in the Discord AppData folder. If you want to open it with Windows File Explorer, put these commands into the file path box:

Navigate to the “Cache,” “Code Cache,” and “GPU Cache” folders in the Discord AppData directory on your computer. You may safely right-click on each of them and select “Delete” from the menu that appears.

How to Clear Discord Cache Files on a Mac

How to Clear Discord Cache Files on Android

The Android version of the Discord app saves some assets (such as photos and videos) as cache files in the same way that it does on Windows PCs and Mac computers.

You may clear these off by going into the Discord settings menu on your Android device and clearing the cache. It will depend on your device and Android version which actions you take; the ones listed below are relevant to Android 10 or newer devices.

How to Clear Discord Cache Files on an iPhone or iPad

Cache files on an iPhone or iPad can’t be deleted because there isn’t a built-in technique for doing so. You must first uninstall the Discord app from your device in order to clear any cache files that may have been retained, and then reinstall it from the App Store.

If you want to do this, navigate to Settings > General > iPhone (or iPad) Storage, then scroll down and touch “Discord.”
