How to Turn On Dark Mode in Microsoft Word

Over the past several years, there has been a rise in the amount of attention paid to the dazzling and brilliant screens that a lot of people use at all hours of the day and night. As a result of the strain that these programmes place on the eyes, many of these applications come with a “dark mode” option. This mode often inverts the colour palette, making it so that large, well-lit portions of the screen are dark. This makes it easier for the user to read on the screen. The only thing that remains white in Microsoft Word’s dark mode after it’s been activated is the actual document itself. The toolbar and the canvas that surrounds the document both turn black in this mode. In addition to that, you have the choice to invert the document so that the text is white and the background is black.

At this point, you should see a dingy user interface with a pitch-black document. It is up to you whether you want to use it or not because it provides a less accurate depiction of what other people will see when you share the completed document with them. However, the fact that this darker view is typically easier on your eyes in low light settings is a benefit that you can take advantage of.

You also have the option of making the document look completely white (with black text and other modified colors).

Click the View tab in the ribbon at the top of the page, and then click the Switch Modes button, to make the document white. This will cause the colour of the document to change. If you click the Switch Modes button a second time, you’ll be able to return to the black mode.

Even when using the dark theme, Word will now always open a white document by default. Keep in mind that you may still make the document black by clicking the Switch Modes button in the View tab; this action takes precedence over the checkbox that is labelled Disable dark mode.

The Dark Mode is to blame for everything. Yes, Dark Mode is supported by Microsoft Word, and there is a good likelihood that you have enabled it inadvertently or that someone person who has used your computer in the past has done so.

Is Dark Mode better for your eyes?

Even though switching to dark mode won’t eliminate eye strain entirely, it will alleviate some of the symptoms. For instance, when you’re in a dark room but looking at a screen that’s too bright, your eyes have to work harder. On the other hand, the effect can also be achieved by using a black screen in a room that has a lot of light.

Under this General tab, navigate to the Personalize section using the tab’s navigation menu. There is a check box for Disable dark mode located right next to the Office Theme choice.

Why is dark mode so popular?

Reduces glare and nighttime eye strain at the same time.

Users of the Dark mode say that reading in low light is easier on their eyes and causes less strain. They also claim that it helps them fall asleep faster and that it allows them to stay asleep for a longer period of time. It’s possible that this is due to the increased exposure to blue light that you get from screens at night, which might throw off your circadian cycle.
