The NVMe M.2 SSD MTE300S from Transcend was just released, and the company stated that it is compatible with the M.2 2230 form factor. It is excellent for updating thin and light notebook PCs, tablet terminals, portable gaming PCs, and other similar devices because the MTE300S is a rare NVMe M.2 SSD that supports the ultra-compact form factor of M.2 2230. There are two versions available in this capacity lineup: 256GB and 512GB. PCI Express 3.0 (x4) is used as the bus interface, and the NAND flash used is of the highest quality 3D NAND. In addition to that, it is equipped with support for features such as SMART, SLC cache, LDPC ECC, and garbage collection.
The primary specifications are quite impressive, including a sequential read speed of 2,000MB/s, a write speed of 950MB/s for the 256GB model and 1,100MB/s for the 512GB model, 90,000 IOPS random read, 220,000 IOPS write, and a total write capacity of 100TBW for the 256GB model and 200TBW for the 512GB model respectively. The mean time until failure is specified at 2 million hours, the write capacity per day is specified at 0.21 DWPD (5 years), and the product warranty is specified at 5 years.
The MTE300S is only 4 grammes in weight and has dimensions of 22 millimetres in width, 30 millimetres in depth, and 2.23 millimetres in thickness (when mounted on a single side). You are also given the option to download the “SSD Scope software,” which gives you the ability to monitor the operation and performance of the SSD. The cost of the MTE300S is not yet known, however it is anticipated that the TS256GMTE300S (256GB) and TS512GMTE300S (512GB) variants would be made available by the end of February. As of the 16th of February, 2023, the price of one euro equals about 0.007 yen; however, the final price will be determined by the conversion rate that is in effect when the product is made available.
