When you uninstall Chrome, you have the option to also delete the information that was stored in your profile at the same time. If you are syncing your data, then it is conceivable that even while the data will no longer be on your computer, it may still be on Google’s servers. This is the case even if you delete the data from your computer. In order to uninstall Chrome from your Mac, you will need to follow the steps outlined in this post.
How to Uninstall Chrome on Your Mac
Here is the protocol that must be adhered to:
1. If you want to successfully uninstall Chrome, the first thing you need to do is ensure that the browser is not presently being used. If Chrome is on your Dock, you may close it by giving it a right-click and choosing the option to Quit from the context menu that appears.
2. Launch the Finder application, and then navigate to the Applications folder by clicking on its icon in the Favorites panel, which can be found on the left-hand side of the Finder window. In all other circumstances, select the Find option from the File menu that is situated at the very top of the display, and then do a search for “Google Chrome.”
3. You can uninstall Google Chrome by merely dragging its icon into the Trash icon that is located on your Dock. This will cause the browser to be deleted.
4. A window with the label “Force-Quit Applications” will display on your screen if you are attempting to delete an application from your computer while it is still running. First, you’ll need to make sure that Google Chrome is selected, and then you’ll need to click the icon labelled “Force Quit.”
5. When you right-click the Trash icon in your Dock, a context menu will emerge. From this menu, choose Empty Trash to delete Chrome from your Mac.
Is it safe for me to uninstall Chrome from my Mac?
Yes. You will still be able to access the internet even if your Mac will automatically designate Safari as the default web browser. This is because even though Safari will be the default web browser, you will still be able to access the internet.
Will I lose all of the data I’ve saved in Chrome if I uninstall it and then reinstall it?
Yes. When you reinstall Chrome, all of the passwords you have previously saved, along with your search history, favourites, and the cache in the browser, will be deleted. This also applies to when you clear the cache. You will be able to retrieve the vast majority of this information if you log in with the email address and password that you have used in the past.
On a Macintosh machine, how much memory does the Google Chrome web browser consume?
It is recommended by Google that you have at least 100 MB of free space on your computer in order to download and operate Chrome. If you notice that the software is running noticeably more slowly than it normally does, consider emptying the cache and the cookies.
