How to Block Spam on Snapchat

Published

If you use Snapchat on a consistent basis, there is a significant chance that you have already been harassed by unsolicited messages (also known as spam) on the app. If you don’t take any precautions, preventing it will be nearly hard. This is especially true if your account is configured to allow anyone to send you a message and you don’t disable that setting in your account.

The good news is that it is simple to take control of your Snapchat account and delete the vast majority of spam. This will result in a reduction in the number of unwanted messages that surface in your Snapchat chats. The bad news is that this feature is not currently available. Now, here’s how to stop Snapchat users from sending you unwanted messages:

From unknown senders

It is easy to prevent unwanted messages from being sent to you by unknown senders; all you need to do is block everyone other than the people to whom you are associated. This will solve the problem. Because of this, you won’t receive any messages that aren’t relevant to you.

1. Launching the Snapchat app should be your initial step because that’s what’s required of you.

2. To access your account, go to the top left corner of the screen and click on the icon that is located there.

3. To access the menu, navigate to the upper right corner of the screen and click on the gear icon (shaped like a gear).

Even if you have Snapchat configured to remove messages from unknown senders, it is still possible for you to get unwanted communications from a friend who is already in your contact list, even if you have Snapchat configured to remove messages from unknown senders. A few touches on the screen are all that are required to remove a friend who is sending you unwelcome messages from your friend list.

FAQs

What spam looks like on Snapchat?

Most Snapchat spam is sent to you from people you don’t know, usually automated bots or other users who aren’t in your contacts (literally or metaphorically). Unless you have a large following and receive frequent messages from total strangers, you may safely assume that every message you receive from an unknown sender is spam.

Snapchat spam comes in many forms, but many users report receiving advertising in the form of photos. However, Snapchat is infamous for the prevalence of spam bots that pose as actual people in an effort to trick you into giving up sensitive information by engaging in conversations with them. Don’t respond to messages from users you don’t know until you’re sure of their identity and motivation for messaging you.

What happens if you try to send a snap and it says you’ve been blocked?

No. You won’t be notified if you’ve been blocked, so in order to determine what to do, you’ll need to look over the advice that was given earlier. After a conflict, if you don’t see any information about the profile that you’re interested in, it’s possible that you’ve been prohibited from accessing it.
