How to Unpair Your AirPods

Published

It is explained in this article how to unpair AirPods from a variety of Apple devices, including the first-generation and second-generation models.

Take note that when you unpair AirPods from an iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac, or Apple TV (fourth generation or later), the wireless headphones are unpaired from all other devices that are linked to the same iCloud account as the one from which they were originally paired.

You will not be able to unpair them from any other devices you may have paired them with that are not linked to iCloud (previous Apple TVs, Windows PCs, or Android smartphones, for example) unless you manually unpair them one by one through their individual Bluetooth settings.

FAQs

Can someone remove your AirPods from Find My iPhone?

Because AirPods cannot be secured using the “Find My iPhone” app, unlike other Apple gadgets, they are more susceptible to theft than other Apple items.

Why can’t I reset my AirPods?

When AirPods do not reset correctly, it is typically because the charging case has been broken or because the AirPods have not been properly unplugged from a device. A buildup of dirt on the charging case connections or on the AirPods themselves might also make it difficult for the factory rest procedure to begin properly. Check to see whether your AirPods are genuine.

Can you switch your AirPods with someone else’s?

You can, in fact, use the AirPods of someone else if they are available. The problem you’ll have to cope with is the pairing process. When AirPods are linked, they are referred to as “X person’s AirPods,” and this is how they appear in your device list when they are paired. The AirPods belonging to “X” will be renamed to “Y Person’s AirPods” if you use them with your device while they are still belonging to “X.”
