How To Efficiently Tame A Wolf in Atlas

Published

Wolves are famous as dangerous enemies with their massive attack power, and they can also knock you back quite far, making it difficult for you to hit them with any type of melee weapon.

However, in Atlas, you can tame this beast and harness the power for yourself. Still, whether you’re a pro or newbie, you will still need to learn the basic steps to tame a wolf and make it your companion in your journey. In this guide, you will find everything you need to know to efficiently tame a wolf in Atlas.

How To Efficiently Tame A Wolf in Atlas?

The important thing to keep in your mind is, wolves are pretty dangerous creatures, and that means you need to be very careful when dealing with them. Wild wolves will strike a lot of damage and will push you away while fighting them, so make sure you follow the steps below.

  • Prepare your Taming Pen

This is the most essential thing to do before you start to catch a wolf out there. This can be done quite simply and easily, as you have got some skill points in Construction.

You will bring the animal back to your Taming Pen to capture it, so it’s best to have it prepared first, and ideally close to a wolf spawn point.

  • Prepare the food items for tame a wolf

Once your Taming Pen is ready, you can collect the food items which you will need to tame the wolf. Make sure you have the right food items below to feed to the wolf:

  • Prime Animal Meat – the most effective taming item (try killing higher-level animals as they often have a chance to drop it).
  • Bones – the second most effective taming item that can be used on wolves.
  • Animal Meat – the least effective taming item that you can use to tame a wolf.
  • Prepare Some Bolas

Now, you will need to prepare some Bolas, which can be craft in your Loom but don’t forget that you need to unlock the Taming Skill first before you do it.

Bolas are useful to trap animals for a short time, letting you feed them to increase their taming meter. Bring up at least three of them to ensure you succeed.

  • Start Taming

Find the wolf that you want to tame, then lead it over to your Taming Pen, which hopefully set up nearby your hunting area. If you didn’t, then you might have a tough time getting the wolf back over to it. Otherwise, you can also try to find a high point to climb onto, as this might keep the wolf from attacking you.

  • Lead The Wolf to Taming Pen

Run back to your Taming Pen when the wolf starts to chase after you, head through the front gate and out the back and then trap the wolf inside. From this position, it should be possible for you to damage the wolf through windows without risking your own life. You need to bring its health down to roughly 20% before using the Bolas to knock it down.

  • Feed the Wolf

While it is knocked down, place the meat or bones into the last slot of your hotbar and force feed it to the beast, this will increase its taming meter.

Be sure to keep your eyes on the timer on the Bola, as the wolf will be freed eventually, and you will need to knock its health down and catch it once more.

Repeat the process until you manage to tame the wolf, give it a name and then release it from the Taming pen.

Congratulations! Now that you have got one of the fastest predators currently available in the game as your friend, you can start making use of the wolf’s excellent meat gathering skills by hunting other animals in the area. And it will make it easier to increase your level, as now the awesome creature is fighting by your side.
